Color Theme – White

Another project completed! The latest project was about color; I also shot a couple other colors, so I’ll share those shortly. Professor liked the white shots best.  So here they are:

I have one of those table top light tents and thought this was a perfect opportunity to break it out.

Those above are the ones I ended up turning in, and these are some of the other ones I edited:

I’m thinking about doing more color-themed posts. Suggestions?

The Pagoda Garden

I did a bit of wandering this week for my current project, and I visited a favorite spot that I’ve never been to in July (as I tend to not go outside when the temperature is above 80 degrees).

In fact, I was working a couple blocks away from this spot for a few months before I realized it was there. The Pagoda Garden and Tea House in downtown Norfolk. Located right down the street from Nauticus and Town Point Park, the garden is a lovely spot… and this is the part of my sentence where I lost the tour guide vibe.

It’s a fun spot, great for photos; I’ve seen a large amount of engagement photos taken here (I’ve done some). I’ve never been to the Tea House, but it sure is pretty on the outside!

The Color of Light

So I’m taking a summer class. Between that, VBS rehearsals/prep and getting ready for summer camp, I have been neglecting the good ol’ blog. I did get some nice photo opportunities for this particular class project, so my plan is to write individual posts with some of these soon. (When I stop being both busy and lazy. Who knows how long that will take.) ;-)

Without further ado, here is Portfolio #1, The Color of Light:

UntitledI went to the zoo with the above shot in mind. Thankfully, as he was running from grabby children, the peacock obliged and ran where I wanted him to.

So I came up with a fun self-portrait to go with this them, but never had the time to shoot it. It’s coming, though.

UntitledBrooke was gracious and let me dress her up wander public places for pictures yet again. This was another nice reminder for me to CHECK MY ISO. I never remember to change it back after I’m shooting a dark interior shot. These had/have a whole passel of noise in them.

Overall I had a hard time mentally with this project. I just didn’t know what to shoot. One thing that struck me was how much of a difference the light/time of day makes as I drove around the same roads at different times of day. It was interesting to see some things I hadn’t noticed in a different light.

Pretty sure I had more words in me for this post, but they seem to have run off. ;-)

What’s your favorite light to shoot in?
