So I have now officially visited the Poe Museum in Richmond, Virginia, many times and in different seasons.
It’s a small museum (though my friend Katie pointed out that it’s rather large to be devoted to one person), and only takes about an hour or so to get through. No pictures in the actual exhibits, so these are of the buildings and the courtyard.
The exhibits are very informative and they have some cool stuff. There’s a model of Richmond circa Poe’s lifetime, his walking stick and other sundries, and even a monument that was once out in the world (can’t remember where–I learned so much). :-) The temporary exhibits have been pretty sweet, too.
My dear friend Lynne would be horribly upset if I didn’t mention the monthly readings they do; she and I went to the October costumed reading (no costumes for us), which was a lot of fun.
So. You should stop by sometime. Here’s their website. (Also, they have fantastic merchandise and online marketing. Which I appreciate.)
