Just another afternoon

…at the Zoo. I apparently spend an abnormal amount of time visiting zoos for a single person without children, but I love it. I do tend not to go in the summer very often as I detest the heat, but I’ve visited a couple times for a class project already this summer.

Anyway, here are my favorite shots from my latest visit, which included a few nice surprises (such as the tiny hedgehog tenrecs watching me take their picture instead of hiding in their little logs, or baby hyraxes—not sure what the plural is—or the lion hiding in a perfect photo spot) that made the venture worth my sweaty, blotchy, it’s-way-too-hot-outside face. Seriously. I look gross when I’m that hot.

Back from the rabbit trail…here are the pictures.

Not the cutest pic, but these guys are super adorable. Now I want a hedgehog. (They’re on top. Baby hyrax on the bottom. No fangs yet.)

angry otter! (Actually, I think he was just winded. Play break.)

You couldn’t see him from above unless you went to the corner of the viewing area through a cleft in the rocks. It was a perfect shooting spot.

favorite of the day. I love these little guys. [Fennec Fox]

So there are some new animal pics. I love them. What’s your favorite animal to visit at the zoo?

Color Theme – Teal

Teal, turquoise. This was my alternate choice to white for my last class project.

I was originally planning to shoot more of an aqua-teal color, but those shades are much harder to find. I have a few, but those will come later. These are the shots I had edited to turn in before white was chosen as my final result.

Special thanks to Rachel, who let me take pictures of her stuff. Because she’s awesome. And has a lot of teal.

Being a Second Shooter

A few weeks ago I was second shooter for a wedding. Here are a few of my shots:

To see Jess’ pictures from the wedding (they’re great!), check out her blog here.

I didn’t end up editing a lot of the shots, but I did enjoy being a second shooter. I know I got a few helpful shots and it was a fun night hanging out with a friend. I also added more information to the “someday if I get married things to know/think about” thoughts. ;-) Ah, weddings.
